Current Phase: Beta Reading

I’m excited. My first novel (War of Wills) is actually in the beta reading stage. There are ideas I came up with after sending it out that will be incorporated as I go through my readers’ feedback, but it just makes everything better, trust me.

I created the Corlonyn Calendar, and I really wish I would have done it sooner. But, at the same time, if I had then I wouldn’t have come up with all of the ideas it sprung. I have to thank my husband for a lot of those ideas, too. Once I finish ironing out the names of the months and days of the Corlonyn Calendar, then I’ll publish it on the Corlonys page!

This is the furthest I’ve ever come along when it comes down to my path to publishing. I’ve been writing for the past seventeen years. I completed my first ‘novel’ (it was pretty much an alternate Harry Potter) when I was in the fifth grade. I’ve always wanted to get published, and War of Wills was my first original work. I started working on it in 2005 and completed the very first version in 2007. When I picked it back up in 2017 to rewrite it (yet again… many half-finished drafts exist on my hard drive and in notebooks scattered throughout my house) I had to admit… That first draft was awful. But, I was 14 when I started it. I think it’s much better now. Cohesive. Publishable.

And I’m so close.

I’m so close I can taste it.

Nothing can stop me now. I have my cover for War of Wills (which needs a few alterations. It’ll look pretty spiffy with my Corlonys logo on the back cover. And, since I ended up using Becca Golden as my domain name, my author name needs to be switched, too. Unfortunately there’s a graphic designer that’s using the Rebecca Golden domain, or I’d be fine… Oh well, everyone calls me Becca anyway. ☺

My plan for the future is to use different blog post sections as places for additional resources – the perspectives my novel didn’t have time to visit; what’s happening elsewhere during the course of the novel; short stories that happen between the novels; etc. Those are still a ways off, though – you need to have published works to fill in the gaps between published works!

Anyway, enjoy my site, though it’s still a work in progress, and I’ll hopefully be announcing the release of War of Wills later this year!
